Beware of Cooking With Plastic

27 04 2008

Boiling plastic bottles in water can release a harmful chemical 55 times faster than normal, reports John H. Gohde.

When you cook with plastic, plastic molecules migrate from the plastic into water and your food.

Cooking food in plastic containers, such boiling plastic pouches of food in water, or microwaving frozen entrees that are purchased in their own disposable plastic trays should be avoided.

John H. Gohde reports that a recent research study has documented once again that BPA was found to migrate from polycarbonate water bottles at a higher rate when subjected to boiling.

Steven Hentges has stated that: “Migration has been studied many times before. In a sense, this [new study] is good news because it confirms what we already know.”
